1-Star Great Taste Award Winner 2025

Our signature coffee, Up Hill is, to us, what specialty coffee should be: delicious yet consistent, adventurous yet approachable. As an espresso expect exciting and fruity, but still delicious with milk.

Nelson Ramirez is a true pioneer in biodynamic coffee production. He is the third generation of coffee producers in his family. In recent years, he has also worked to reduce the amount of waste his production generates. In addition to reusing the water he uses for washing his coffee, he has also built vermicompost facilities - an approach that uses earthworms as well as bacteria to break down organic waste. Here he turns the pulp and part of the waste water into fertiliser.

Expect tasting notes of blackberry, mandarin, and red apple

Recommended brew methods:

Espresso, stovetop, filter (V60, Kalita, etc), Aeropress, cold brew, cafetiere

Orange Coffee?

Using a stovetop espresso maker, drinking it black.
I find the orange peel notes overpowering, leaving a very bitter after taste.
Not what I’m into for my morning coffee.

As an espresso the apple notes shine through. Lovely when made in french press too. Perfect to enjoy before heading out on the bike(up hill)

Definitely not your average bean

Hmmmm, this coffee has a really lovely flavour that’s actually very complex to my taste buds. This sort of quality, for me, is worth paying for. I realise it’s “expensive” by supermarket standards but this is no supermarket coffee roasted to high heaven to disguise the beans. I am more than happy to support proper ethical high quality coffee done right.

Too Expensive

For a monthly subscription the price is still 3 times more that I pay for beans and no way would I use 1kg in a month. I will not be buying until you reduce the price as you do from time to time. It’s a shame as the coffee is nice.
