Finca El Carpintero, Guatemala
Regular price £13.00This coffee is produced by Herminio Lopez Mazariegos in the Huehuetenango region of Guatemala. He’s been in the coffee fields from when he was a little boy where his dad used to teach him how to work the farm. He inherited the land about 20 years ago and continues to work it to sustain his family.
Herminio is also passionate about making sure future generations are equipped to maintain their livelihoods. He works with them to teach them how to be aware of the environment and the ecological impact of coffee production. But it’s not a one way exchange - Herminio learns just as much from the young farmers as they do from him.
Finca El Carpintero consists of just over three hectares of land. After picking the ripe cherries, the coffee is pulped the same day. The coffee is then fermented for two days in cement tanks, and after washing, it is dried on patios for four days.
Expect tasting notes of chamomile, honey, young white wine
