The 10 Most Common Questions About Coffee Subscriptions

At Mission Coffee Works, we know how important a good cup of coffee is to your day. Whether it’s powering you through the morning commute or giving you a moment of calm mid-afternoon, coffee is more than just a drink, it’s a ritual. That’s why our coffee subscription is designed to make enjoying fresh, delicious coffee as simple as possible.

Still not sure how it all works? Here are the 10 most common questions people ask about our coffee subscriptions.

1. What exactly is a Mission Coffee Works subscription?

It’s a regular delivery of freshly roasted coffee straight to your door. You choose the coffee, how much you’d like, and how often you want it - we do the rest. The beans are roasted at our East London roastery and packed to order, so you’re always receiving coffee at its freshest.

2. How often will I receive coffee?

You can choose a delivery schedule that works best for you: every week, every fortnight, or every month. The flexibility means you’ll never run out of coffee unexpectedly, but you also won’t get buried under a mountain of beans.

3. Can I choose the type of coffee I receive?

Yes. You can either stick with your favourite from our core range, like Bells or Uphill, or the roaster’s filter choice of single-origin coffees that change seasonally, or you can mix things up each delivery. If you like variety, a subscription is the perfect way to taste coffees from different origins and processing methods throughout the year.

4. Whole beans or ground coffee – what’s best?

We always recommend whole beans, because grinding just before brewing gives you the freshest flavour. But if you don’t have a grinder, don’t worry, we’ll grind your coffee for you based on your brewing method, whether that’s espresso, cafetière, AeroPress, or filter.

5. Is a Mission subscription cheaper than buying individual bags?

Yes, subscribing saves you money compared with buying bags one by one. When you subscribe you get 10% off the regular price - and that’s for every delivery. Plus if you spend over £25 you get free shipping. Beyond price, the real benefit is the quality of the beans. Supermarket coffee is sourced at a lesser quality, and may sit on a shelf for months, but we always source specialty-grade coffee and it’s roasted, packed, and posted in a matter of days.

6. Can I pause or cancel easily?

Absolutely. You’re in control. If you’re going on holiday, cutting down, or simply have enough coffee for now, you can pause, skip, or cancel your subscription any time. No strings attached.

7. What makes Mission subscription coffee better than supermarket coffee?

Freshness and quality. Supermarket coffee is often roasted months before it reaches the shelf. At Mission, we roast to order in small batches, so your coffee arrives bursting with flavour. You’re also supporting a roastery that values sustainability and works hard to source ethically, paying fair prices to farmers.

8. Will I really notice the difference in flavour?

Yes! And that’s half the fun. Coffees from Ethiopia might taste floral and citrusy, while those from Brazil lean more towards chocolate and nuts. Our roaster’s filter choice changes seasonally, so you’ll get to experience these differences first-hand. Once you taste fresh, carefully sourced coffee, it’s hard to go back.

9. Is a subscription a good gift?

Definitely. A Mission Coffee Works subscription makes an ideal gift for the coffee lover in your life. You can give a set duration, say three or six months, so your recipient enjoys a steady supply of freshly roasted coffee without needing to manage the account. It’s thoughtful, practical, and the gift that keeps on giving.

10. What should I look for in a good subscription?

When you’re choosing a subscription, look for:

  • Fresh roasting – our coffee is roasted in London and sent out within days.

  • Flexibility – pause, skip, or cancel anytime.

  • Choice – stick with your favourite or let us surprise you.

  • Sourcing you can trust – Mission is committed to sustainable practices and long-term farmer relationships.

  • Convenience – delivery straight to your door.
