We’re based in Hackney Wick, London, and roast all of our coffee at our roastery to make sure freshness and quality is at its best. We supply all of the UK, and if you’re ever in the area, feel free to pop in to say hello.

We don’t think great coffee should be a privilege. So, we source some of the most exciting beans on the market and roast them with care. This means you get unpretentious coffee that pushes the boundaries for the taste and quality you can expect of affordable beans.

We care deeply about the impact we have on the environment and our communities. You can read more about our sustainability initiatives here.

Coffee & Sourcing

Specialty coffee refers to coffee that has been graded at 80 points or above on the SCA scale by certified Q graders. It’s sourced, processed, and roasted with exceptional care and attention to detail. It involves a range of factors including the origin, farming methods, and processing techniques.

Specialty grading creates higher prices for the green coffee. This gives growers more money for their greens while incentivising sustainable practices. In return, it creates a better relationship between growers and consumers, promoting quality and sustainability throughout the coffee supply chain.

Our coffees come from all over the coffee growing regions - both well-known origins as well as up and coming or unusual countries. What we care most about is that the coffee is the best it can be for the price that we pay. We work with reputable importers and producers who prioritise quality, sustainability and fair pricing. We also change our single origins with the seasons to make sure you always get a banging cup of coffee.  You can see all our coffees here.

Yes. We work with importers and producers who focus on ethical sourcing, long-term relationships, and paying prices that reflect the true value of the coffee. You can read more in our latest Impact Report.

Specialty coffee growing standards often go above what is needed for organic certification, but not always certified because of the costs involved.

We don’t necessarily buy “Fairtrade” coffee - Fairtrade isn't always fair. Instead we buy traceable coffees with ethical buying practices. By selling to the specialty coffee market farmers can earn more than fair trade prices for their coffee.

Yes, we offer both single origin coffees and blends.

Head of coffee, Edgaras, selects fun, interesting, and unique single origin coffees. He usually runs three to four single origin coffees at any one time, and they’re usually changing quarterly, or with the coffee harvest seasons. These single origin coffees show a mixture of different regions, processes, varieties, and altitudes - and offer something completely unique. See our single origin coffees here.

We have one blend, Bells, which is developed for balance, consistency and versatility. It’s ready to impress your coffee snob mates but won’t terrify your grandma. Consistent and delicious through any brew method and a fantastic espresso.

“Washed” or “natural” coffees refers to the processing of the coffee from the small fruit it is on a tree to the dried seed that is ready for shipping.

The hard and fast rule is that natural coffees are more fruity and funky, whereas washed coffees are cleaner with lighter bodies — but like all rules, this one is best when broken.

Roasting & freshness

All of our coffee is roasted at our roastery in Hackney Wick, London. If you’re ever in the area, feel free to pop in and say hello!

We roast little and often. All coffee is shipped shortly after roasting so it arrives with you as fresh as it can be. However, super fresh coffee isn’t always best for brewing. We always recommend resting your coffee 2-3 weeks from the roasting date to let it degas so that it tastes great when you brew.

Brewing & Grind size

Grind size depends on your brewing method. When you buy coffee from our website you have the option to choose your brew method and we’ll grind it for you for that specific method. If you want to see our recommended recipes, check out our brew guides here.

Bells, our classic blend, is developed to perform well on espresso and stand up to milk for lattes, flat whites, and the like. It is a blend of two origins offering balance, sweetness, and clarity. You can learn more about Bells here.

Store coffee in an airtight container, away from light, heat, and moisture. Always avoid the fridge and freezer.

Whole beans will keep longer than preground coffee, so keep in mind how quickly you go through your coffee when you order. You may find that you should order 200g more frequently than 1kg once a month or every two months.

We deliver across the whole of the UK. We work with both Royal Mail and DPD to make sure that you get your beans on time.

Orders are usually dispatched the next day if you order after midday, however, it may sometimes take up to five working days to get items dispatched.
