I've been watching YouTube videos on how to buy coffee and when the bag arrived, my heart sank. I like mellow coffees full of malty flavours, not the bright, sharp, acid ones that are described with fruit flavours. But I picked the Roasters Choice because I wanted to be forced to expand my tastes, and because, if I think I've never had a truly masterfully selected and roasted coffee in my life, how can I be sure what I like? Well, I'm glad I persevered. My first mouthful, I wasn't sure, but by the fourth I had dialed in my taste buds and it was clear to me this coffee had a complexity that I really enjoyed and with none of the bum stale notes I thought were just a part of drinking coffee. The only downside is I threw away what was left of my old bag of beans. Now I understand it's bad coffee, I can't drink it!
